Design Build Process
At Harris Custom Homes, LLC we have defined the Design Build Process into 5 steps that will take you and your project from start to finish.
Step I. In Home Consultation
The owner, Mercer Harris, will meet with you to discuss your wants and desires for your existing home to ensure your needs are fulfilled. He will look at your existing conditions and discuss budgets and feasibility to get you started in the right direction.
Step II. Design Proposal
Within a few days you will receive a proposal for the design portion of your project and an estimate for the construction to verify your ideas and cost are in line.
Step III. Design Meeting
Once we have determined the direction, scope of our work, and preliminary budget you will then have a meeting with one of our architects and Mercer Harris. We will then discuss our ideas and concepts that fit your budget. During this phase you will receive preliminary drawings for you to review and discuss so our final design meets everyone’s expectations.
Step IV. Construction Agreement
After the design process is completed, you will be given a detailed proposal that includes the cost of your project along with a contract agreement with start and completion dates. Once you have reviewed and signed the contract agreement you will be ready for Step V.
Step V. The Build
The Build is the phase you are most anticipating and at Harris Custom Homes we take pride in making this a fun and enjoyable time for you and your family. During the build process your job will be under the supervision of a lead carpenter/superintendent and Mercer Harris from start to finish. You will be notified of all scheduling of subs, deliveries and employees but will not be expected to give out any directions. You will be given contact information for your superintendent and Mercer Harris. During the build process we will schedule periodic meetings to discuss any questions that may come up during the course of the build. Once your job has reached the end of the build process, you, Mercer Harris, and the superintendent will do a complete walk through to create a punch list assuring all expectations are met.
